Women who have large breasts may experience a variety of problems from the weight and size of their breasts, such as back, neck, and shoulder pain, and skin irritation. Breast reduction is usually performed for relief of these symptoms. This often results in firmer, lighter and better-shaped breasts in proportion with the rest of your body.
The best candidates for surgery are those who are mature enough to understand the procedure and have realistic expectations about the results. There are a variety of different surgical techniques used to reduce and reshape the female breast. Please call our office, 312-440-3100, to learn more about Breast Reduction surgery or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Pielet.
What to expect during the recovery period:
- Immediately after surgery there might be swelling, discomfort, bruising and tenderness. Any pain or discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication
- Return to light activity within 2 days post-surgery or as you feel ready
- Most patients return to work within a week
- You can resume all of your normal activities in 4-6 weeks
