Forehead Lift (Brow Lift)
The face is where most people notice the visible signs of the aging process. There are many factors that contribute to these signs: genetics, environment (sun damage and/or smoking), stress and illness, architectural changes in the skin, volume loss and gravity; to name a few. A good candidate for this procedure is someone who is bothered by the development or presence of expression lines (or other signs of aging) in the forehead and brow region. Common complaints in men seeking a brow lift are, sagging or low position of the eyebrows, creating a tired or sad appearance, deep horizontal creases across the forehead, and frown lines between the eyebrows and across the top of the nose. This condition can be a result of overactive muscles in the forehead and brow region, heredity, or the way in which we age. A Brow Lift can be enhanced with laser resurfacing or a chemical peel to further improve skin tone and surface appearance. Other rejuvenation procedures, such as eyelid surgery or a facelift can also work in conjunction with the brow lift.

How is a Brow Lift performed?
Dr. Pielet uses a revolutionary endoscopic technique to correct droopy eyebrows, “hooding” over the eyes, forehead furrows and frown lines. It can smooth the forehead and raise the upper eyelids. Tiny incisions, barely 1/4 inch and hidden behind the hairline, are used to insert a tiny lighted camera to gently lift the tissues. Not only will this procedure eliminate some of the most visible signs of aging but also, it can stabilize the forehead and even the mid-face to slow down further progression of the visible signs of the aging process. When there is an abundance of excess skin in the forehead, a more traditional technique using an incision across the top of the scalp (opened technique) may be recommended.
This procedure takes approximately 1 hour, but may vary depending on the individual.
What to expect during the recovery period:
- Minimal discomfort is to be expected and can be controlled with medication
- Swelling and bruising to the affected area are normal. This will begin to fade within the first week
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure and use a good sunscreen
- Return to light activity within 2-3 days of surgery or as you feel ready
- Full activity may be resumed 4 to 6 weeks after surgery

Dr. Pielet offers a variety of procedures for men and women including facial plastic surgery and facial rejuvenation procedures. In addition to browlift surgery, he offers other facial procedures for patients seeking neck lift, facelift, browlift, or rhinoplasty in Chicago.
