The calf muscles are genetically some of the most difficult muscles to develop and soft implants can be inserted through a small incision behind the knee. There are 2 heads or bellies to this muscle and the procedure can involve augmentation of either the inner head, outer head or both. Calf Augmentation is performed on men and women. It is usually performed on both sides but can be used to improve symmetry if there is an obvious imbalance from developmental abnormalities or trauma.
